Powder Springs
A twenty-five-mile drive northwest of downtown Atlanta brings you to Powder Springs, Georgia — a welcoming community of about 15,000 people offering residents a fantastic blend of small-town charm, big city convenience, natural beauty and recreation.
Originally known as “Springville,” this community was established in the wake of the Georgia Gold Rush. While the flurry of gold prospecting amounted to little success, the town continued to grow over the years. Drawing inspiration from the area’s seven springs and its black, mineral-laden sands resembling gunpowder, Springville eventually came to be called Gunpowder Springs, then simply “Powder Springs” in 1859. As nearby Atlanta expanded over the decades, this community eventually found new popularity as a convenient suburb.
Known for its system pedestrian and biking trails, Powder Springs makes it easy to enjoy the great outdoors — and an ongoing roster of events On the Lawn in Town Square help nurture the tight-knit sense of community here. If you’re looking for affordable suburban living just minutes from all Atlanta has to offer, you’ve come to the right place.
